The death of a loved one is always devastating.  When that loss is the result of an overdose, there can be emotions that bring unique challenges in addition to the typical symptoms of grief.

Grief themes are common in books, television and movies.  The memoir Wild by Cheryl Strayed resonates so strongly with the grief experience that it's become widely embraced by countless grievers.  Its 2014 film adaptation was long anticipated by those who loved the book, including show host's Litsa and Eleanor.

This time of year can be particularly difficult for people grieving the loss of a loved one.  Spouses, parents, children and siblings muddle through parties, presents and merriment to finally confront the gut wrenching presence of an empty chair at their holiday table.
